New Life-Skills e-courses on our website

September 10th, 2026

I’m happy to announce three new additions to the series of self-paced Life Skills courses on our website

  1. Critical Thinking (link)
  2. Managing Your Personal Finances (link)
  3. Customer Care (coming soon)

Personally, Critical Thinking is my favourite. The topic is close to my heart, especially in today’s world. With social media replacing serious newspapers, influencers trying to sell us everything imaginable, and AI developing at lightning speed, it is becoming harder to separate truth from fiction and to understand the consequences of our choices. This course can help you develop the habit of thinking before acting. In my opinion, it is one of the essential life skills of the 21st century.

We developed Managing Your Personal Finances because so many people asked for it. Many struggle to pay their bills and want practical advice on managing their money better. There are plenty of financial courses available, but few are tailored to Rwandan realities. As we developed this course, it kept expanding. It’s not only about how to earn more money, but also how to manage the money you have and eventually, how to grow it. Along the way, I discovered that I’m actually quite sloppy with my own finances! If I ever want to become rich, I clearly need to change a few habits myself. Hopefully, this course will help you build better financial habits and perhaps even put you on the road to financial independence.

The third course, Customer Care, has been on my wish list for years. It is not quite ready yet, but it’s coming soon. I’m excited about it for two reasons. First, although customer service in Rwanda has improved enormously since I arrived 11 years ago, I still occasionally experience situations where customers are treated poorly. Second, I simply enjoy acting as the bad behaving customer in our training videos. So, when the course is released, see if you can spot the arrogant, demanding Mzungu!

Will an e-course really change people’s behaviour? That depends on how it is used. I don’t believe someone will automatically become a customer-service champion after spending 90 minutes behind a screen. But I do believe a practical, engaging course can encourage people to reflect on their own behaviour and its impact on others. The effect is even greater when employers or teachers ask learners to complete the course and discuss what they have learned, or when it is used as part of classroom discussions.

One thing I have accepted is that I will probably never know who has completed these courses or what difference they made. But I would love to hear your stories. If you take one of our courses, please send your feedback to info@threemountains.academy. I promise I’ll write back.
